Have you considered going grocery shopping before? No, you’re missing out. You are going to learn a lot about each other. Give grocery shopping a whirl and figure out why it made the top date ideas.
The Concept, Needs, and Expense
You’ll be spending an afternoon shopping and cooking. A great way to get to know each other and kill some time in the day.
- You’re going to need an oven or grill.
- It will cost you $50 and 3 hours of time.
Our Two Step Process
Step 1: Get a Recipe Together (Like Steak)
When you have an afternoon off and you’re not sure what to do, grab 40 bucks and take your date to the store. Shop for the essentials for a meal. You’ll want some vegetables, like corn on the cob if you can grill, or maybe fresh green beans if you can sauté. You’ll figure it out. You’ll want a meat, like a steak or chicken… Get some bread, maybe a bottle of wine. Ask her input as you shop together.
You’ll both have fun getting to know how the other prioritizes items and spends money. Do you or she go for bargains or quality? Ask her to pick out a few items for dinner too…or maybe dessert.
Step 2: Cooking Together Takes Skill
Take your items, head back home, and start preparing. Assign different tasks to each other. It may be a little difficult cooking together. You’ll each get a feel for how the other person operates and how to work together. Do you get the idea? Someone make a sauce, someone makes the vegetables, someone makes the meat, etc. This is a great idea to pass some time, get to know each other, and have a great or interesting dinner.
By the end of this date, you will not only have spent an afternoon talking and getting to know each other, but you will also have enjoyed dinner. Cap the night with a TV show. You’ve talked all afternoon; reward yourself.
Here Is What We Did
Boys, become Men following examples like this.
I took my girlfriend at the time to her favorite grocery store – Publix. I bought us a steak (lightly seasoned with salt and pepper – all you need), some red wine, corn on the cob, and a couple of potatoes.
The steak I cooked in the pan on medium for 3 min. each side. After this, I added some of the red wine to the pan and the stuff stuck to the pan thickened the wine and made a nice sauce. (Impressive to a woman that you can make sauce). I added some butter to the corn on the cob, wrapped it in aluminum foil, and put it on the grill for 15 minutes or so. We made garlic mashed potatoes (boil them, then drain and mash). She made key lime pie.
