Top Date Idea: Indoor Picnic!
Great News Women, this indoor picnic idea is simple and your man will love it. Here’s how it works:
The Concept
You’ll be having a picnic in your living room. It may sound cliche, but think about it – delicious food, relaxation, and privacy are all at his fingertips!
- You’ll need some groceries, blanket, and a few good recipes.
- It will cost you about $25 and 3 hours of time.
Our Three Step Process
Because we women can handle more steps.
Step 1
Set the stage. When your man walks in, you want him to immediately notice that something is different (not the easiest thing to do), and that you took time on this. Clean up your living room (make sure clutter is gone and the floors are clean). Spread a blanket or sheet on your living room floor and add some throw pillows to make it cozy. You can use your coffee table for a buffet if you like. In the room, set the plates, glasses, silverware…everything you need for the night. Run through your list. You’ll want to enjoy this evening, not getting up and down all meal long 🙂
Step 2
Cook dinner from scratch – even if it’s a simple recipe. That may seem daunting, but I promise you can do it. Stick with something you know, or surprise him with one of his favorites (especially if it’s an anniversary or special occasion). When he walks into the house, not only is he going to notice the home is different, but the scent of a home cooked meal will cause him to notice too! My husband likes to joke that there are only two things that are “really” important to him as far as our relationship – and food is one of them! Hint: Have wine ready for the night…and it’s okay if you sip some while cooking 😉
Step 3
Arrange the food on dishes in the living room before he arrives. If he is impatient or “starving,” he won’t have to wait for you to finish your cooking – huge bonus for him! Enjoy dinner together and some time to chat. Keep the conversation light and fun…and who knows what the evening will bring.
Here Is What We Did
Women, you can entice your man by following examples like this (they’re easy)!
To celebrate our first anniversary, I cooked my husband one of his favorite dishes and surprised him with a dinner picnic when he arrived home from work. I lit candles in the living room for added effect and used our wedding champagne flutes and our fancy china. We ate apples, honey and brie bruschetta, chicken cordon bleu, and asparagus with crème brulee for dessert (also his favorite). We spent time after dinner looking through our wedding album and just chatting!
